What is Faith Mission about?

It’s ensuring Faith Mission is welcoming, deeply integrated in the neighborhood, and faithful in all its endeavors. We remember all people bear God’s image and we follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ using dignity, assets, presence, grace, hope, and love in all that we do.

It’s nurturing the spiritual well-being of people in the community. We include neighborhood residents, people serving and partnering with Faith Mission, and participating congregations.

It’s enhancing the overall well-being of children, youth, and adults in the neighborhood. We partner with others and we provide leadership to support our neighbors’ wholeness and self-sufficiency using education, life skills, and empowerment strategies.

And what are the work areas of Faith Mission?

Deeply integrating our spiritual mission through prayer and workshop opportunities, trainings and workshops, and working with our partner churches: Faith Mission connects with Trinity United Methodist ministries, offers trainings such as Dignity Serves and Cost of Poverty Experience, and holds quarterly worship services which gather our partner communities to worship together in one spirit!

Strongly supporting children and youth: Faith Mission is a host site for Kids Count after-school program, facilitates a middle and high school boys youth group Leaders Overcoming through Faith, and participates in SMILE mentorship program at Rawlings Elementary with mentor recruitment and financial support.

Develop and expand healthy, ongoing relationships with adults and families in the neighborhood: Faith Mission’s leadership team is composed of a balance of members from Trinity United Methodist Church and residents within Faith Mission neighborhood. Woman to Woman is Faith Mission’s monthly women’s sharing group that meets over lunch to grow in supportive relationship.

Research, plan, and implement programs or partnerships that enhance financial well-being for neighborhood residents: Faith Mission’s Financial Empowerment Team began in January 2018 to evaluate opportunities for Faith Mission to serve adults and families in meaningful, long-term ways financially and Faith Mission offered its first financial literacy course in fall 2018. Additional courses and mentoring programs are currently in development.
