Rev. Dr. Gary Mason
Matthew 15:11 & Proverbs 21:23
April 8, 2018
Jesus began one of his most familiar parables with “A farmer went out to scatter seed.” He frequently used images and illustrations from everyday life to teach his followers about what it means to grow as disciples, as well as some of the struggles and difficulties we encounter along the way. This year during the season of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter, we’ll listen to some of these gospel episodes again; we’ll be challenged and encouraged to develop the practices that help us experience God’s marvelous love and grow deep roots as disciples of Christ.
In a time when there is so much that seems to divide people, how can Christ lead us in our relationships with one another? As Trinity enters a new year focused on the theme of "Deeper," we begin with this series that takes us deeper in our commitment to love through our differences and across divisions. We'll find, as the title of a collection of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s sermons suggests, that the kind of courageous love Jesus models requires great strength. Come be challenged and inspired to be a more faithful follower. Sundays, January 14 - February 11.
