Ben Haines

Director of Sports & Recreation Ministries

Ben’s favorite parts about what he does at Trinity include working with kids and families, working outside with sports and games, and being challenged in working with his hands. Ben was born, was raised, and attended schools here in Gainesville from elementary through the University of Florida. Prior to joining the staff at Trinity, Ben worked at several area restaurants, worked with the Appalachia Service Project (ASP), and taught and coached at Buchholz High School.

It was during an ASP trip with Trinity’s youth group that Ben found out about the job opening for Sports & Recreation Ministries with Trinity. The timing was perfect, as he was transitioning between teaching jobs. He applied while on the ASP trip, interviewed when he returned, and says the rest is history. Ben and his wife, Kristen, have a son, Cameron (8), and a daughter, Madeleine (6). Their family also includes two Labrador retrievers, Major and Cooper, who are brothers. For fun, Ben coaches his kids’ teams, and watches anything and everything that is Gator athletics, especially football, baseball, and basketball. Because his dad was born and raised in Illinois, Ben is a fan of the Sox, Bulls, and Bears. He also likes to watch movies and play outside and relax with his family, both extended and immediate.
